Bayer Black Leadership Trainee Program
THE CLIENT
"If it's Bayer, it's good", you may have heard this slogan around, and when it comes to health and agriculture Bayer is present in homes all over the world. Acting in the areas of Consumer Health, Crop Science and Pharma, Bayer is one of the largest chemical industries in Brazil and in the world.
The Challenge
Bayer's main objective was to promote greater racial diversity in its leadership positions, so that the company's reality would reflect the demographic composition of the country. Based on that, the best and most agile strategy found was, in 2020, to launch its first Exclusive Trainee Program for black people, composed of 19 people.
B4People's main missions were:
- Prepare managers to exercise inclusive leadership by training behaviors and biases.
- To prepare the 19 black professionals to assume leadership positions in the company, through the development of performance evaluation processes, literacy, development of power skills, networking and knowledge transfer, combating the systemic barriers faced by black people in the organizational environment.
Result
- Increase in the number of black people at leadership level 2 and 3.
- Design of a more equitable and inclusive evaluation and promotion process.
- Increased notoriety of the trainee program, ensuring in 2023 the largest trainee program in Bayer's history, with 33 new positions.
